A high-level committee of bureaucrats will now go through the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission and change it.The committee hopes to correct the difference in pay between the military and Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. The exercise could take over two months, and is expected to be completed by the end of June. The military had been objecting saying the jawans have got a raw deal and bigger hikes are needed to retain the current lot.
The Armed forces personnel should be exempt from Income Tax, just as the farmers are.
