NDA to bring law for to deal with Bangladeshi immigrants: Shanta Kumar

Jammu, March 24: NDA will take measures to bring a stringent law to tackle the issue of Bangladeshi immigrants, if voted to power, BJP National Vice-President Shanta Kumar has said. Even as the Lok Sabha elections have been announced, the country is facing many threats from Pakistan and Bangladesh due to militancy and turmoil in these countries presently and there are about three crore people who come from Bangladesh and settled in India over the years, Kumar, who is also incharge of J&K affairs, told reporters. "Many of these Bangladeshis have become citizens and voters in parts of India and some of them have been elected in different democratic institutions", he said. Asked as to how NDA during its rule tackled the issue, the BJP leader said a law was made then to identify and accordingly take action against illegal immigrants from the neighbouring country. But when the government changed at the Centre, Congress-led UPA reversed it for vote bank politics, he alleged and asserted that the matter went to Supreme Court which upheld the law. Bureau Report
