Rashtravadi Shiv Sena office set ablaze by Shiv Sena workers

New Delhi, Nov 04:

A group of Shiv Sena activists on Tuesday set on fire the office of Rashtravadi Shiv Sena in the national capital in "retaliation" to yesterday`s attack on the Maharashtra Sadan here. The blaze was reported from the headquarters of the Rashtravadi Shiv Sena in Shahdara in north-east Delhi at around 09:10 am and five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. Owning responsibility for the attack, Shiv Sena North India in-charge Sandeep Kulkarni said the attack was mainly against "tarnishing" the image of his party and its leaders. "It was a spontaneous reaction by Sainiks angered by the insult of the Sena leaders by Rashtravadi Shiv Sena. It was a befitting reply to those who attacked the Maharashtra Sadan," he told reporters. He also accused Rashtravadi Shiv Sena chief Jaibhagwan Goyal of trying to "unnecessarily" blame the Shiv Sena in the Marathi-North Indian row. The attack on the party office comes a day after the activists of Rashtravadi Shiv Sena, which was formed to counter Shiv Sena`s anti-north Indian stand, attacked Maharashtra Sadan here demanding arrest of MNS chief Raj Thackeray. Goyal has demanded the immediate arrest of the MNS chief under the NSA failing which the party threatened to further intensify its attack. Head of Rashtravadi Sena arrested Jaibhagwan Goyal, the head of Rashtravadi Sena, a breakaway group of Shiv Sena, was today arrested in the national capital in connection with the attack on Maharashtra Sadan here allegedly by the party activists while protesting violence against north Indians in Mumbai. "We have arrested Goyal who had claimed responsibility for the attack on Maharashtra Sadan," a senior police official said, adding Goyal has been lodged at the Tilak Marg police station. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to four. Three persons -- Suresh Sharma, Amardeep and Raja -- were arrested yesterday. The party leader had yesterday claimed responsibility for the attack on the Sadan and demanded the immediate arrest of MNS chief Raj Thackeray under the National Security Act. Bureau Report
