PARAVOOR: Sreedharan Thanthrikal could successfully fight against the social evils and motivate youngsters about their rights and responsibilities, said Overseas Indian Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi here on Sunday.
He was inaugurating the valedictory function organized to felicitate thanthric and jyothisha scholar Sreedharan Thanthrikal on the occasion of his sapthathi celebrations.
Various seminars and workshops were held on different subjects as part of the the five-day celebrations, which began on Wednesday.
Astrology (`jyothisham’) and thanthric scholars have accepted Sreedharan Thanthrikal as an unquestionable authority in the field, said Minister of State for Agriculture K V Thomas.
V D Satheesan MLA presided over the meeting. Fisheries Minister S Sarma, SNDP Yogam secretary Vellappally Natesan, K P Dhanapalan MP, Hindu Aykyavedi state general secretary Kummanam Rajasekharan, Mathrubhoomi Daily managing editor P V Chandran, SNM College former principal Geetha Suraj and municipal chairman N A Alim, among others, offered felicitations.
Sreedharan Thanthrikal, in his address said that the vision and teachings of Sree Narayana Guru had influenced him and the Guru’s blessings were there behind all his achievements.
Office-bearers of more than 200 temples where Sreedharan Thanthrikal had served as the thantri, presented offerings to him.

Sreedharan Thanthrikal became an Hindu icon when he performed the pooja for Vishal Hindu Samelan held in the early 1980s alongwith the Thantri from the legendary Suryakaladi Mana. This was a moment of great significance as till then due to caste restrictions such collaborations were almost unheard of. The credit for bringing the two titans in the field of thantra has to go to Madhavaji, the late leader of the RSS in Kerala. Sreedharan Thanthrikal’s brother was a Sanyasi and was associated with Vishva Hindu Parishad.
