Jaganmohan gets Cong go-ahead for Telangana yatra

Congress on Tuesday gave a go-ahead to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to continue his controversial yatra, apparently to ward off any trouble in Andhra Pradesh party unit ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls.
Reddy, MP from Kadapa and son of late Chief Minister Y S Rajashekhara Reddy, got the clearance for the tour when he met Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily, who is AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh, here this morning.
He will now carry on with the tour from June 8 in Srikakulam in coastal Andhra Pradesh from June 8 to meet the families of those who died after his father's death in a helicopter crash.
He will also visit the Telangana region after the by-elections are held in the sensitive region.
"The meeting went off well. He (Moily) has given a go-ahead. He told me to go and continue with whatever I am doing," the 37-year-old leader told reporters after emerging from 20-minute meeting with Moily.

"In fact, this tour of mine was widely appreciated by him (Moily) and he has given a very clear indication to go ahead and do what I am supposed to be doing," Reddy said.
Reddy was in the eye of a storm after he defied the party High Command and went ahead with his tour of Telangana region.
It is learnt that Reddy got the go-ahead after he explained to Moily that the tour was apolitical and aimed at visiting the families of those who had died of shock or had committed suicide after hearing the news of his father's death.
Reddy said Moily blessed him. "When I went inside, he (Moily) greeted me with a smile and then he blessed me (for continuing with the yatra)," he said.
Asked to comment on the issue, party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed said, "all is well in Andhra Pradesh".
Congress sources said Reddy was given the go-ahead as the party wants to avoid any confrontation with him ahead of the Rajya Sabha polls in the state this month. Congress can get four members elected to the Upper House with its strength of 156 in the 294-member assembly.
"Handle with Care" is the mantra with which the party is tackling the young leader, Congress sources said, adding the effort was to avoid any split in the state unit.
Asked whether the "misunderstanding" with the high command has been sorted out, Reddy said, "If at all you call it a misunderstanding, ....everything is clear and sorted out."
Asked whether he would meet Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, whom he could not meet yesterday, Reddy said Moily had told him that he will "brief him."

It would be naive on anyone's part to think that Sonia Gandhi is against Jagan. He is a fundamentalist Christian, just the type for whom Sonia is living. He is her long term bet in AP and maybe even beyond. Her trying to give the impression that he is of no consequence is hogwash.
