Muslim, RSS leaders meet to discuss Ayodhya

New Delhi: Track II efforts for ‘amicable solution’ of Ayodhya dispute are on even after Sunni Central Wakf Board (supported by All India Muslim Personal Law Board) and Nirmohi Akhara, the main parties to the case, have decided to move Supreme Court challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict.
On Wednesday, for the first time after the Allahabad HC verdict, on the initiative of Swami Agnivesh, some Muslim leaders met key figures from Hindu organizations including those associated with RSS to “discuss and explore different possibilities” to resolve the Babri Masjid dispute.
Informing about the meeting Swami Agnivesh told TwoCircles.net that, “at this stage we are exploring options so it was just a preliminary discussion and not a negotiation,” which took place at India Islamic Cultural Center in New Delhi.
The meeting won’t have any bearings on the decision of the respective parties to approach the Supreme Court in this case, said Kamal Farooqui, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) member who also attended the meeting besides several other Muslim representatives, while discussing the issue with TCN.
Historian Devendra Swaroop, RSS leader Indresh Kumar, Swami Chidanand attended the discussion besides Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who too participated in the exploratory meeting through video conferencing.
Both Swami Agnivesh and Mr. Farooqui emphasized that the initiative for the dialogue can go simultaneously with the case being appealed in the higher court. According to the Arya Samaj leader, the next meeting may take place on November 2.
Mr. Farooqui pointed out that “the meeting was in line with the official stand taken by the AIMPLB that the Ayodhya verdict should be appealed in the Apex court, the doors for the negotiation, however, should remain open.”
Apart from the yesterday’s meeting, there have been several other efforts also going on between the leaders of both Hindu and Muslim sides. Hashim Ansari, for instance, has been meeting several key leaders from the Hindu groups for the settlement of this decades old issue.

Mohammad destroyed the idols in Kaaba because he believed that the Kaaba was originally a mosque. The Karsevaks destroyed Babri Masjid because they believed that originally it was a temple. Any difference?
