Mumbai: Taking his 'Marathi manoos' agenda a step further, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray today asked the legislators in the new Assembly to take oath "only in Marathi" or face his party's wrath.
"The House will witness what my MLAs will do if anyone dares take oath in other language," Raj told reporters. MNS has 13 MLAs in the 288-member House.
"In Karnataka, a Marathi-speaking MLA was expelled from the House as he could not speak in Kannada. Will our legislators show the same attitude about Marathi," Raj said.
Raj's statement follows his recent warning to Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Asim Azmi who had demanded the House agenda in Hindi.
"Hindi is our national language and it should come after Marathi," Azmi, elected from Mankhurd and Bhiwandi seats, had said in his letter to Assembly secretary.

The challenge from this "Marathi Jinnah" should be taken up by the "Marathi Manoos" and they should swear themselves in in all languages allowed by the constitution. The BJP should take the lead in having its members swearing themselves in in Sanskrit and Hindi as well as Marathi. The goonda tactics of Raj Thackery must be met with head on, otherwise everyone will have to succumb to him as everyone succumbed no so long ago to Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

I am sure you do not know Marathi and you must not be watching Marathi news channels at all. Hindi Channels misguide all for money purpose.
Neither did raj sir ask for separate Maharashtra as Jinnah did nor did he force outsiders to leave MH. In fact, In 1950-60s in Tamilnadu Periyar E V ramswamy had asked for separate Tamil nation as I read on Wikipedia. Still today DMK is strongly against Hindi language. Did you see Karunanidhi, his daughter Kanamozhi or sir P Chidambaram speaking Hindi? When I came to Chennai I found that when I asked some question in Hindi they answered in English, no hindi!
Today there are 35% outsiders in MAH state. No other state of India has more than 20% outsiders, clearly this proves that Maharashtra has already done a lot for India more than any other state.
My questions are, will Punjab discard its Gurumukhi script for outsiders' convenience? Will Bengal discard Bengali for outsiders in Kolkatta? Will Chennai discard Tamil for outsiders coming to Chennai?
Then what is wrong if Marathi Manoos demands Marathi in Mumbai. Hindi Outsiders can learn Marathi just within 6 months. Those who are discarding Marathi probably want to challenge and rule over Marathi community. MADAM , when all Kannada politicians forced a non-Kannada MLA to resign, would you call them all as Goondas?
My opinion is 'North Indians' should come out of misunderstanding that Hindi is National language, Hindi is not National language!!! First the word 'National Language' should be precisely defined by law. Does it mean that only Hindi- the greatest and rest Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil all are useless languages?
I am a Marathi and I know its great History. I don't find anything special in Hindi. There is no need for Maharashtrians to discard Marathi and start using Hindi. In comparison to north-indians in Mumbai, Marathis living in Indore, Baroda, Bhopal respect Hindi and use Marathi only inside the house. This is our thinking-style.
If you carefully read my comment carefully 2-3times possibly you will stop calling Raj sir as Goonda.
