Zeenews Bureau

Bhopal, Oct 25: A day after arresting three suspects – Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, Shamlal Sahu and Shivnarayan Singh – in connection with last month’s Malegaon blast, the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Saturday detained two former Army officials from Pune.

The ex-Army officials are believed to have given training to the people involved in carrying out the blast.

Meanwhile, ATS officials are visiting Bhopal for further investigations and are likely to make more arrests in connection with the case.

ATS officials are also likely to visit Gwalior in connection with the probe into the blast.

Earlier, a young Sadhvi suspected to have links with a Hindu right-wing group and two other men were slapped with murder charges after they were arrested for their alleged involvement in the Malegaon blast in which the police said the deadly RDX was used.

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur along with Shamlal Sahu and Shivnarayan Singh, all hailing from Madhya Pradesh, were yesterday produced before a court in Nashik in Maharashtra, which remanded them to police custody till November 3.

The motorcyle used in the Malegaon blasts on September 29 in which five persons were killed belonged to the Sadhvi. Besides having links with the BJP`s student wing ABVP, she is suspected to be associated with the Indore-based radical Hindu Jagran Manch (HJM) accused of involvement in the blasts in Malegaon as well as in Modasa in Gujarat in which one person was killed. The right-wing outfit has denied the charge.

Meanwhile, commenting on the Hindu group involved in the blasts, Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi said that Hindu groups would not have been accused of such activities if action against terror groups had been taken earlier. He further said that when people don’t get justice, they take up arms.

Also, former BJP leader Uma Bharti came in support of the Sadhvi, saying she was being wrongly implicated in the case.

ABVP office attacked in Nashik

Protesting the alleged involvement of BJP`s student wing - Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in Malegaon and Modasa blasts, NCP student wing on Saturday attacked the ABVP office here, police said.

The activists shouting anti-ABVP slogans entered the right wing students office in the Ashok Stambh locality and damage some furniture and also board of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, police said.

The activists also blackened the face of ABVP members present in the office, police added.

It is only natural that Hindu activists at some point would have said enough is enough and decided to give Islamic terrorists a taste of their own medicine. Let us hope that with this beginning of Hindu terrorism, Muslim terrorism will end. It if does not, Hindu terrorism will only continue in the scene with bolder terrorist acts. So let all men of goodwill attempt to put an end to terrorism from all quarters by demanding that the governments at the centre and states come down with a heavy hand on all those involved in terrorism. Let the government begin with the hanging of the Afzal Mohammad. - K.Venugopal - Mumbai

It is extremists from both the religions that are to be blamed. We all need to stop coloring every person from a particular community with the same radical colour. Its time to stand united against terrorists who are killing innocent people.. remember TERRORISTS HAVE NO RELIGION !!! Its a shame that BJP/ShivSena are trying to rationalise terrorist activities !!! - CJ - Mumbai
