Blasts a conspiracy to divert from cash-for-votes scam: BJP

New Delhi, July 28: The BJP on Monday made a surprise allegation that the weekend blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad were a conspiracy to divert attention from the cash-for-votes scam and sought to suggest UPA's hand in it. The Congress, however, rubbished the allegation saying the BJP has lost its "mental balance". "What they said was "shameful", Congress spokesman Manish Tiwari said adding "first they lowered the dignity of the House by bringing in cash and now now they are making noise". Addressing a press conference after a meeting of NDA leaders "I see a conspiracy to divert attention from the cash- for-votes scam. The Muslim votes got scattered from them (apparently the UPA) because of friendship with the US....to scare the Muslims by raising the bogey of BJP to bring them back into their camp." However, she did not name anyone directly as being responsible for the blasts. Swaraj said she was sure the "conspiracy" would be exposed and added that so far it had not happened that within 24 hours two-BJP ruled states had been targeted. "These are not off-the-cuff remarks. I mean what I say," she said further. When asked if she was pointing towards the Centre and alleging that the Congress-led UPA government had a role in the blasts, she said, "I have said what I wanted, it is for you all to interpret the rest." Swaraj claimed that the blasts and its locations had enough "circumstantial evidence" to support her charge. Swaraj said "The attacks in two BJP-ruled states in a span of two days and within four days of the UPA government winning the confidence vote has some meaning and what I am saying is proved by enough circumstantial evidence." She said absence of an anti-terror law like that of the POTA was the prime reason for the increased terrorist activity in the country. "Let them replace the name and not call it POTA, but the country today badly needs an anti-terror law. There is this misconception that POTA is against the Muslims, it is in fact against the Mujrims (culprits)," Swaraj said. She also promised "all support" to the government if it attempts to bring in a federal law to investigate terrorist cases. Bureau Report
