PDP unit resigns over Amarnath row

Jammu, July 05: Lambasting their own leadership for allegedly triggering a row over the allotment of land to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB), all the office bearers of the PDP's Udhampur district unit resigned from the party on Friday. "I have resigned along with over 23 office bearers and over 500 workers over PDP leadership's role over Amarnath land transfer issue. They have worked against the interests of Hindus and turned communal", PDP's Udhampur district president Surinder Singh told reporters. PDP's provincial secretary and spokesperson, Jammu region Renu Azad had resigned from the party over the same issue yesterday. Bureau Report

Who is communal? Those who refuse land to the shrine to improve its pilgrimage facilities or those who protest against this unfairness? - K.Venugopal - Mumbai

The Amarnath land transfer issue is here to stay. BJP and other communal parties have found an issue which can help them win a majority in the parliament in the next election. This issue is stronger and longer lasting than the Ram Mandir issue at the demolished Barbari Masjid in Ayodhia. - Ahmad Raza - USA
